Mental health encompasses a variety of conditions, including depression, anxiety, post traumatic stress disorder, and personality disorders. These conditions can impact a person’s ability to socially, cognitively and behaviourally function. Because of this, work and completing physical activity becomes difficult and can lead to isolation. There is still a poor understanding of mental health and what the best treatments are, but we do know that exercise is evidenced to be beneficial, and even be as effective as pharmacological interventions.

Consulting with your general practitioner, psychologist and/or psychiatrist in addition to allied health assistance is always important to ensure the best multidisciplinary treatment.
